A Bruxelles

"High Level Seminar – Raising security awareness and strengthening the trust of end-users in information society: Policy challenges for the next decade"

Tre i temi primcipali:

– Discussion #1 – TECHNOLOGY
Discussion of the impact of forthcoming technologies in terms of
awareness and trust of private and business users. Exploration of
questions such as the impact on trust of convergence, privacy enhancing
technologies, trusted computing, RFID, biometrics and other forthcoming
technologies; looking at the consequences for the supply side, the user
needs, research.

– Discussion #2 – DEPENDENCE
The session will look at the dependence on networks and its impact on
the trust of private and business users. The word network is to be
understood in a broad sense as the "thing" interconnecting applications
and people; ensuring technical and organisational robustness and
resilience as well as business continuity or privacy protection. The
consequences on the supply side, user side, awareness needs and
research will be addressed. An issue to investigate is how to ensure
that networks remain public assets.

– Discussion #3 – PERCEPTION
The discussion will tackle the psychology of trust: how does awareness
become trust in users’ mind; how damaging are privacy breaches, what
are pertinent trust indicators; where should we stand between
responsibility and liability?
